Over time understanding fitness has changed. Gone are the days of simplifying it down to an in person aerobics class or gym work outs. Now, it’s understanding we need to start reading our bodies and our mental health and lean into what we feel, to improve our physical health and the overall connection to our well being.

Pilates now goes in hand with wellness, because it ties in so many integral needs for our body, and wellbeing. It is low impact, includes stretching, is a slower more considerate pace for your mind to calm and focus, whilst also being a decent and challenging work out. When COVID hit and we all lost the ability to attend our favourite gyms and classes, and online became a way in which we realised we can still learn, remain committed, all in our own time.

So we speak with the founders of Our Pilates, Hannah McKimm and Brooke Pitt. Two women that have come from very different backgrounds, with different reasons to create their joint business - Our Pilates.

Hannah a physiotherapist with a baby under 1, was always invested and prioritised fitness, but was diagnosed with Hypothalamic Amenorrhoea. This led Hannah to re-evaluate what she believed was ‘being fit’ in her endeavour to try for a family, and ultimately find better balance. Brooke a high profile Australian model, that has previously spoken about body image insecurities, which led her to found an inclusive swimwear and fashion range Le Mon. A brand that’s purpose was to embrace and build confidence in all women, but through her roller coaster of trying for a family and IVF, Brooke decided to reach out to Hannah and tackle wellbeing from a new angle with - Our Pilates. An online subscription program to support and nurture women with their wellness needs.

“Doing something is better than doing nothing. And you don’t have to sweat for 45minutes and hate it for it to count as exercise.” - Hannah
